Events on the Eastern Trail - 2018

Happy people enjoying the Eastern Trail!

There are many fun events that take place on a regular basis on the Eastern Trail! You can also find additional events on our online ETA Calendar.

Events on this page are organized with Trailwide events first, then specific sections:  So. Portland-Scarborough-OOB-Saco, Biddeford-Arundel-Kennebunk, and Eliot, South Berwick, Berwick, Kittery, North Berwick, Wells.  At times we will also list other interesting Maine, New England region and national trail events here.

Upcoming Trailwide Events:

  • Maine Lighthouse Ride — Saturday, September 8. This is our premier event for the year, and once again we are Sold Out (ride is capped at 1200 registered riders)! If you did not get to register and want to participate, please consider volunteering to help support the ride. More information here.

Upcoming So. Portland-Scarborough-OOB-Saco Section Events:

  • Wednesday, August 15 and every Wednesday in August - Ride the Eastern Trail with a Naturalist, 9 am. You will cover about eight miles in two hours of easy cycling on flat and level terrain while learning about the fabulous Scarborough Marsh and adjoining upland forest. The entire trip is off road (except for several road crossings) on the beautiful Eastern Trail. Sponsored by Fun and Sun Rentals - more information here. Reservations required. A portion of the proceeds go to benefit the Eastern Trail.
  • Sunday, August 26 - ET Full Moon Walk, 8 - 9:30 pm, Scarborough - ETA Parking lot - Pine Point Road - Scarborough Marsh (map). Join our Eastern Trail Director, Carole Brush, to watch the moon rise over the marsh, look for animals, learn about the trail, enjoy conversation and walk in the light of the full moon.   • Saturday Sept. 29 - Loop & Lunch Ride. This will be the third of the season, route to be announced. These rides are usually 30-35 milesand involve lunch at an interesting place on the route. More information on the Loop and Lunch ride series here.

Upcoming Biddeford-Arundel-Kennebunk Section Events:

  • Sunday August July 26 ET Full Moon Walk, 8 - 9:30 pm, Biddeford - Southern Maine Health Care, 1 Medical Center Drive (map). Join our Eastern Trail Trustee, Joe Yuhas look for animals, learn about the trail, enjoy conversation and walk in the light of the full moon. Upcoming Eliot, South Berwick, Berwick, North Berwick, Wells Section Events:

    • Saturday August 18th - North Berwick Mill Field Festival, 9 am - 4 pm, Mill Field in North Berwick (map). Visit the Eastern Trail Booth and meet some of our wonderful volunteers. Discuss the exciting "Blazing a Trail South" campaign soon to begin!.

Here are some exciting group trail events planned for 2018:

      • Maine Lighthouse Ride — Our Biggest Event takes place September 8, 2018. This is our premier event for the year, and once again will be capped at 1200 registered riders! Each year we sell out early, so register now! Four great ride options:
        • Century  (100-mile) 7:30 am (See all 9 lighthouses.)
        • 62-mile   (metric century) 8:15 am (8 lighthouses visible)
        • 40-mile   9:00 am (8 lighthouses visible)
        • 25-mile   9:45 am (7 lighthouses visible)
      • Lunch and Loop Rides. To acquaint participants with the beauty of the Eastern Trail and increase twowheeled camaraderie, the Eastern Trail Alliance will sponsor from three to five bike rides. To allow riders to enjoy Maine’s seasonal changes, ride organizer Russ Lamer will lead them from Spring through Fall. More information here.
      • Happy people enjoying the Eastern Trail!ET Moonlight treks are scheduled throughout the year, often every month -— walking in the summer, snowshoeing and skiing as possible in the winter.

      • Happy people enjoying the Eastern Trail!Consider leading an activity on the trail — a walk, a bicycle ride, OR a birding expedition. Please This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with your idea!
      • Consider hosting an event on the trail that takes advantage of its fine resources. An example of such an event is the Snowy Egret Run/Walk for the Marsh, held on the Trail each Memorial Day weekend. Such events need to fill out a Event Request Application.
