Trail Conditions, Alerts and Notices

The Eastern Trail Alliance periodically updates this page with trail alerts, conditions, and reports. Our small team relies on trail users to share their trail observations and report problems by filling out this form. Trail conditions are always subject to change, be alert and use caution while on the trail.

South Portland

Reported: May 24, 2024 | Summer visitors and Maine residents hoping to access area beaches and attractions will significantly increase traffic near the segment of the Eastern Trail co-located with the South Portland Greenbelt. Please use extra caution this summer at intersections along this segment of trail.

Scarborough

Reported: January 14, 2024 | Updated: May 23, 2024 | The Eastern Trail segment through the Scarborough Marsh experienced several major washouts this past winter and spring. While this section of trail is open to all users, use caution, especially cyclists. Please be aware of debris, loose rocks, ruts, and uneven footing. Slow speeds or dismounting your bicycle may be advisable depending on tire size and skill level. Click here to see photos.

Saco

Reported July 9, 2024 | Unitil is working this week on its gas pipeline along the trail near Moody Street in Saco. The trail will remain open albeit narrower than usual due to trucks and work equipment along the trail. Short delays due to equipment moving in the work zone are also possible. Work will occur during weekday business hours and work equipment will remain near the trail after hours. Please stay alert, use safe speeds, and keep an eye out for fellow trail users and work crew members and their equipment. Know before you go: click here to see a photo of current conditions.
