Events on the Eastern Trail 2024

Trailwide Events:

  • Maine Lighthouse Ride logoSaturday, September 7th – Maine Lighthouse Ride — Registration is now open for our biggest event of the year, which will take place Saturday, September 7th. All proceeds benefit the Eastern Tail Alliance, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that builds, maintains, and promotes the Eastern Trail, southern Maine’s premier multi-use greenway. Register today and help ensure the ongoing maintenance and development of the Eastern Trail.  More information here.

Upcoming So. Portland-Scarborough-OOB-Saco Section Events:

  • Saturday, June 29 – Bike & Brew on the Eastern Trail with Lone Pine Brewing Co in Old Orchard Beach, 10:30 am – 2:00 pm EDT, 32 East Grand Avenue, Old Orchard Beach. The Eastern Trail and Lone Pine Brewing are excited to host the June 2024 Bike & Brew. This is a free event however, donations to the Eastern Trail are most appreciated and can be submitted during the checkout process. 10:30 AM – Meet at Lone Pine Brewing in Old Orchard Beach;11:00 AM-1:00 PM: Bike the Eastern Trail with ET staff; 1:00 PM -2:00 PM: Beers, Relaxation & Fun at Lone Pine Brewing. Participation is free, though donations are gratefully accepted. RSVP now!
  • Saturday, July 13, 2024 – Lunch and Loop ride from Scarborough to Buxton and return.  Ride starts at 9:30 AM Meet at 9:00 AM at 189 Stewart Drive in Scarborough which is near the Dunstan Tap and Tavern Restaurant. (The restaurant is located at 6 Stewart Drive.) Ride will wind around back roads in Scarborough, Saco, Hollis, Buxton and out to Salmon Falls and loop back. Lunch will be at the Dunstan Tap and Tavern Rest. Ride will be approx. 25 miles. More information on lunch and loop rides can be found here.
  • Sunday, July 21 – Eastern Trail Full Moon Walk, 8:45 – 10:15 pm EDT, Pine Point Parking Area, 138 Pine Point Road Scarborough, ME – Join the Eastern Trail Alliance for its July Full Moon Walk in Scarborough Marsh. The walk is limited to 25 people and is first come first serve. Pets and flashlights are not allowed for this event to ensure guests can best appreciate the marsh and full moon. Registration required – go here to register.  Please email info@easterntrail.org with any questions you may have.
  • Sunday, August 11 – Wake Up and Ride with Holy Donut, 8 – 10 am EDT, 398 U.S. 1 Scarborough, ME. Join the Eastern Trail and Holy Donut for a morning ride on the Eastern Trail! Participation is free, though donations are gratefully accepted. RSVP now!

  • Saturday, October 12, 2024 – Lunch and Loop ride in Saco. Ride starts at 9:30 am – This is the retro clothing or ugly sweater ride. Ride will start on North Street, in Saco, on Rt. 112, and will take us along back country roads in Saco and possibly to Dayton. Lunch TBD. More info later on the meeting place. Approx. 25 miles.

Upcoming Biddeford-Arundel-Kennebunk Section Events:

  • Every Saturday – Eastern Trail parkrun. A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate – it’s up to you! Takes place every Saturday at 9:00 am at Biddeford Eastern Trail (accessible from the Southern Maine Health Care Hospital car park), Medical Center Drive, Biddeford. Go here for more details. Costs nothing – it’s free! but please register before you first come along.
  • Saturday, August 10 – Lunch and Loop ride from Biddeford to Kennebunk and return.  Ride starts at 9:30 AM Ride starts behind the Southern ME Health Care facility in Biddeford at the Eastern Trail trailhead parking lot. Ride will be along the Eastern Trail to Kennebunk and along the ocean with stops at the monastery and several other scenic areas in Kennebunk and Kennebunkport. Lunch will be at Sebago Brewery. Approx. 25 to 30 miles. More information on lunch and loop rides can be found here.

Upcoming Eliot, South Berwick, Berwick, North Berwick, Wells Section Events:

  • Saturday, September 21  – Lunch and Loop ride in Wells. Ride starts at 9:30 AM Ride will start at the Wells Amtrak Train Station and will wind along back roads in Wells to along the coast. Lunch will be at Hobbs Restaurant. Approx. 30 miles. More information on lunch and loop rides can be found here.

Group Trail Events:

  • Lunch and Loop Rides will be held this year. These are intended to acquaint participants with the beauty of the Eastern Trail and increase two-wheeled camaraderie, and usually range from three to five bike rides. To allow riders to enjoy Maine’s seasonal changes, ride organizers Russ Lamer and Bob LaNigra.  Go here for more info on 2024 rides and to read about past Loop and Lunch Rides.
  • Happy people enjoying the Eastern Trail!Full Moon walks are scheduled throughout the year, usually every month – walking in the summer, snowshoeing and skiing as possible in the winter. Groups will be limited in size to 25 people and masks/social distancing is required. No flashlights or pets, please.
